The Slovenian Week of Restaurants pt.3

If the first experience of the Slovenian week of restaurants at Gostilna Mahorčič was superb and the second experience at Restaurant Terasa was disappointing then the third restaurant  experience at Cubo was excellent.

Salmon terrine with carrot fried in coconut oil
Restaurant Cubo in Ljubljana was all that we wanted, which means great ambient and delicious food. From the starter to the dessert everything tasted right and the flavors were perfectly mixed together.

Porcini mushroom pate with pumpkin seeds
 Pistachio panacota with vanilla cream
We actually went to Cubo the day after our not so good experience at Terasa, therefore we consciously didn't want to expect too much. The food wasn't extravagant at all, which is not always a bad thing, if you know what I mean. Sometimes less is more and in fact in this case the saying worked out perfectly. I would describe Cubo's food as a safe slow food choice where you can easily look forward to have a great meal.

Beef fillet with cognac sauce and chestnut puree
Sea bass fillet with a sauce of sparkling wine and truffle mashed puree
Chocolate cake with Piran salt flower

With the three culinary journeys at the Slovenian week of Restaurants, we came to at least three conclusions:

1. The absolute best tastes were at Gostilna Mahorčič, because you could really enjoy the homemade ingredients that were part of every single dish.

2. One can always rely on Cubo to deliver safe and good slow food.

3. Restaurant Terasa in other words: ''Don't judge a book by its cover.''

To conclude, I believe the concept of The Week of Restaurants is honestly one of the best ideas out there. It really makes you appreciate and discover all that your country has to offer in terms of food and places. That's also the main reason why I'm looking forward to the next year's week of restaurants.

Dear Karin,

I really do not appreciate all this pictures of delicious food. Tone it down a bit, please.
